An inclusive Workshop for the Exploration of Artistically Integrated Audiodescription

Dance should be accessible to everyone – for dancers, choreographers, and audiences. For blind and visually impaired people in the audience, dance can be made more tangible through audiodescription. In audiodescription, movement is described in words. Traditionally, this description is factual and as objective as possible. However, there is a growing desire from various sides to integrate it more into the artistic concept.

In this workshop, we will explore ways to integrate audiodescription more deeply into the artistic creation process. We will ask ourselves:

  • How can we create an inclusive experience for all through the description of dance?
  • How can this description be incorporated into the artistic context?
  • How do we connect artistic ideas with factual descriptions?
  • What methods exist for artistically integrated audiodescription?

The workshop is led by Vasiliki Bara and Pernille Sonne, both artists. One is blind, the other can see. With their experience and practical exercises, they will guide participants in exploring the field of artistically integrated audiodescription.
